• Belinda lived in a little white house with a little black kitten and a little grey mouse and a little yellow dog and a little red wagon and a realio trulio little pet dragon.
• Now the name of the little black kitten was lnk and the little grey mouse she called him blink and the little yellow dog was sharp as mustard but the dragon was a coward and she called him custard 
• Custard the Dragon had big sharp teeth and spikes on top of him and scales underneath mouth like a fireplace chimney for a nose and realio trulio daggers on his toes .
• Belinda was as brave as a barrel full of bears mustard was as brave as a tiger in a rage but custard cried for a nice safe cage.
• Belinda tickled him she tickled him unmerciful ink blink and mustard they rudely called him percival they all sat laughing in the little red wagon at the realio trulio cowardly dragon.
• Belinda giggled till she the house and blink said week which is gigglink for a mouse ink and mustard rudely asked his age when custard cried for a nice safe cage .
• Suddenly suddenly they heard a nasty sound and mustard growled and they all looked around meowck cried ink and ooh cried Belinda for there was a pirate climbing in the winds .
• Pistol in his left hand pistol in his right and he held in his teeth a cutlass bright his beard was black one leg was wood it was clear that the pirate meant no good.
• Belinda palied and she cried help help but mustard fled with a terrified yelp ink trickled down to the bottom of the household and little mouse blink strategically mouseholed .

• He stalks in his vivid stripes the few steps of his cage, on pads of velvet quiet, in his quiet rage. 
• He should be lirking in shadow sliding through long grass near the water hole where plump deer pass. 
• He  should be snarling around houses at  the jungle's edge, Baring his white fangs, his claws, Terroorising the village!
• But he's locked in a concrete cell, his strength behind bars, stalking the length of his cage, lgnoring visitors. 
• He hears the last voice at night, the patrolling  cars, And stares with his brilliant eyes At the beilliant stars. 

The ball poem  

What is the boy now who has lost his ball,what, what is he to do? I sae it go mertily bouncing, down the street and then merrily over- there it is in the water! No use to say ,O there are other balls : An ultimate shaking grief fixes the boy an he stands rigid trembling staring down all his young days into harbour where his went. I woild ont intrude on him adime, another ball is worthless. Now he senses fiest responsibility in aworld of posdessions. People will take balls, bslls will be lost always, little boy. And no one buys a ball back. Money is external. He is learning well  behind his desperate eyes the epistemology of loss how to stand up knowing what every man must one day know and most know many days, how to stand up.

The Trees 

The trees inside are moving out into the forest, the forest thet was empty all these days where no bird could sit no insect hide no sun bury its feet inshadow the forest that was empty all these nights will be full of trees by morning.

All night the roots work to disengage themselves from the cracks in the veranda floor. The leaves strain toward the glass small twigs stiff with exertion long - cramped boughs shuffling undre the roof like newly discharged patients half - dazed miving to the clinic doors.

I sit inside doors open to the veranda writing long letters in whichv I scarcely mention the departure of the forest form the house. The night is fresh the whole moon shines in a sky still open the smell of leaves and lichen still reches like a voice into the rooms.

My head is full of whispers which tomorrow will be silent. Liste.The glass is breaking .The trees are stumbling forward into the night. Winds rush to meet them.The moon is broken like a crown of the tallest oak.
