the happy prince ? 

High above the city on a tall column stood the status of the happy prince.

He was gilded all over with thin leaves of fine gold for eyes he had two bright sapphires ans a large red ruby glowed on his sword hilt. One night thete flew over  the city a little swallow his friends had gone away to Egypt six weeks before but he had stayed behind then he decided to go to Egypt too.                                           All day long he felw and at night time he arrived at the city where shall l put up he said l hope the town has made preparations."                       Then he saw the statue on the tall column l will put up there he cried lt is a fine position with plenty of fresh air so he alighted just between the feet of the happy prince.                       I have a golden bed room he said softly to himself as he looked round and he prepared to go to sleep but just as he was putting his head under his wing a large drop of water fell on him.                                               What a curious thing he cried there is not a single cloud in the ske the stars are quite clear and bright and yet it is raining then another drop drop fell. What is the use of a statue if it cannot keep the rain off he said l look for a good chimney pot .

ln the kingdom of fools, both the king and the minister were idiots. They didn't want to run things like other kings so they decided to change night into day ang day into night they ordered that everyone should be awake at night till their fields and run their businesses only after dark and go to  bed as soon as the sun came up . Anyone who disobeyed would be punished with death. The people did as they were told for fear of death the king and the minister were delighted at the success of their project. One day a guru and his disciple arrived in the city. In was a beautiful city it was broad daylight but there was no one about everyone was asleep not a mouse stirring even the cattle had been taught to sleep by day. The towards strangers were amazed by what they saw around them and wandered around town till evening when suddenly the whole town woke up and went about its nightly business.                  The two men were hungry. Now that shops were  open they went to buy some groceries. To their astonishment they found that everything cost the same a single duddu whether they bought a meassure of rice or a bunch of bananas it cost a duddu the gurn and his disciples were delighted they had never heard of anything like this they could but all the food they wanted for a rupee. When they  had cooked and eaten thevguru realised that this was a kingdom of fools and and it wouldn .

Lawrence allowed the waves to lift him up and carry him to towards the store. The sea held no terrors for him as he calmly swam back the rest of the distance to the land. They take part in contests of speed strength and skill. The first Olympic were perhaps held nearly 3,400 years ago in ancygreece. We know very little about these games, but we have definite account of there games from 776 BC. The games were held in Olympia which was a magnificent city with its marble stadium gymnasia and temples. There games lasted a month. The contests were held in running boxing leapxing leaping wrestling chariot racing and throwing the discus and javeli orators. Poets and musicians also took part in there games. Training for the athletes was very hard and discipline was very strict. Women were not even allowed to watch the games and the punishment on being caught watching was death.

Water -a precious liquid 

We know that our earth is known as a blue planet because a major part of the earth is covered with water. It more than three fourth of the earth surface is covered with water why do we have scarcity of drinking water? The reason is that most of the water is found in the oceans and seas and is unfit for human consumption. 

Uses of water 

Water is very useful for us. We all need water for various purposes. Besides human being all other living things also need water for their survival plants need water to prepare their food. Animals need water for drinking and bathing. Human beings need water for various purposes like drinking, cooking, bathing, washing clothes,etc.

Sources of water 

There are several sources of water. The main source of water on the earth is rain. It is the rainwater which fills puddles, ponds, lakes, streams, rivers and seas.

 Some amount of rainwater percolates into the ground. It is called groundwater. It fills up wells. Handpump and tube wells are also used to draw out groundwater.

Storage of water 

Water is very precious. Therefore we should store it for later use. Water can be stored in various types of containers. 

Drinking water can be stored in jugs bottles and earthen pots it may also be used for cooking.

The earth the sun the moon and other planets are the part of our solar system. The sun is at the centre of the solar system. The earth and other planets revolve around the sun.

There are a number festival in our country. They are special days, which we celebrate with our family, friends, neighbour, and relatives. Festival are full of fun and joy. People like to wear New clothes and eat special food. We can categories our festival into national festival, religious festival and harvest festivals.

They are celebrate throughout the country by everyone. They are also symbols of units of our country. Independence day, republic day and gandhi jayanti are our national festival.
